Bee Friendly Warwick community group
Bee Friendly Warwick is glad to tell you about our amazing annual event at Hill Close Gardens. We are calling it 'Bee Wild' this year, and entry is free! We have more local wildlife groups, such as the Warwickshire Bat Group, joining us. There will also be engaging demos on Weaving and Woodworking, more activities for children and more gift stalls.
Bee Wild is Saturday, June 24th, 2025, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Although entry is free, Hill Close Gardens would appreciate donations for their 30-year-old restoration appeal for essential repairs. We hope your school will join us in encouraging local families to attend. Perhaps your school would even like a stall where you can show us what you do for wildlife; let me know! Does your school have a wildflower patch or long grass on the grounds? If so, please let us know, and we will add your school to our map of sites that help pollinators.
This year, we have more exhibitors: the Warwickshire Mammal Group, the Warwickshire Bat Group and a display by the local hedgehog rescue team, poetry by Matt Black, music and Fletcher & the Bee by local author Julia Rawlinson.
The popular rock painting and crafting activities are back, as are making seed bombs, the insect hunt and the find-the-word trail around the gardens. Children who come dressed as insects will receive a small treat!
We have more of our info and leaflets on the best plants for pollinators year-round and plants to buy. Families can add their wildlife-friendly garden (of intention to create) to a local map so we can join up habitats across Warwick
Plus, examples of good solitary bee houses.
There will also be honey, bee-themed gifts, art, aromatherapy soaps, knits, bags, and jewellery to buy.
We expect it to be a fun day with something for everyone to enjoy.
Please help spread the word by sharing either or both the attached poster or folded leaflet in your school newsletters and on your noticeboard.
